Has the Bush Administration rendered these words meaningless? You know how when you repeat a word over and over again pretty soon it starts to sound weird and have no meaning? I'm starting to feel that these two words, specifically, are losing meaning.

Don't spin the question. We are in the "no-spin zone". I mean that the Bush administration has turned these words into buzz words and they have been devalued. How exactly does restricting civil liberties in the name of security make us more free? I think its great that Iraq is now "free" but is it safe? No, its friggin' anarchy. I know, I've been there.

Thank you Nick N for proving my point. Do you know anything about American history? Do you really believe that the American Revolution was fought so that every person could be equal and we could all live in the gumdrop forest on lollipop lane? Rich men were pissed that they couldn't get any richer and they needed the rabble's support to gain independence from the financial tyranny of England. Read a book *** hole!

I did check them out in the dictionary and they are still listed with meanings. However I am sure that is not the meaning of your question based upon your comments.

I doubt if the meaning is lost but I agree at times one must get the idea that some others do not read the same meaning as you do and I do. In fact you and I may not always agree as to what is or is not liberty and freedom.

I personally approach a disagreement as being either that one of us is wrong or maybe we may both be wrong in our application of our meanings. For sure we can not be both right if we do disagree on a specific point and issue.

I hole the view that those in power do have the right to answers all questions with the statement. "well, what are we in power for?"

So while the powers are who they are one must accept the fact they are in power. Next time the opportunity comes up then work for a change if such is desired. For me that is the only solution.

Do have a great day and just grin and bear it till the next election my friend.

Well my friend then you have a problem of understanding the english language. Liberty and Freedom has been the backbone of this country since it struggle and birth for independance. We have the Liberty to work for what we have legally and the Freedom to use our work in a manner which we so desire, as long as it doesn't encrouch on to someones else's Liberty or Freedoms. As individuals on a Society with laws to protect the masses, we in the USA have the Liberty to speak of our Freedoms and to disagree about the ways we see things going. This is the fundemental Freedom and Liberty that we all speak of. So if your mind can not grasp the concept that men and women have died over the 200 + years our country has been here, then you have a small less intelligent mind than you give yourself credit for. We all have different ideas on how and what this country has to do and how to act on certain aspects of this countries life. It is by the Grace of a very thin lead that we will be intelligent enough to underststand that Liberty and Freedom is not here because it is the Liberals or Free for the taking. Lives have perished for this cause and these two words. So please don't deminish the cornerstones of the United States of America by complaining about the use of these words by the duelly elected President of the USA. If these words are meaningless to you it is not because of him... It is only because of you and you, yourself and your thinking. God Bless you and God Bless America.

Liberty is merely accepting the consequences of your actions. Try living People's Republic of China and speakiing out against government. Do you exercise your freedoms? Did you vote? Are you active in a political arena? Or do you just scream into Yahoo Answers hoping the rest of the hopelessly bored unite in restoring your freedom instead of mocking retarded questions?

You can only lose the meaning of the words! They can't be made to lose meaning. If Bush is truly lead by God and if we are true Christians,we must put our faith in God and know that He is leading our country!Best wishes and try to do something positive for the country. Pray for our countries leaders.

Just out of curiosity, could you explain to me the difference between those two words?

If you want those words to have meaning to you-ask people what country they came from and ask them what those words mean to them now that they are in the U.S.
