3s+2 = 5s+10
=> 3s-5s+2=5s-5s+10 [ subtract 5s from both sides]
=> -2s+2= 10
=>-2s+2-2=10-2 [subtract 2 from both sides]
=> -2s=8
=>-2s/-2=8/-2 [divide by -2 on both sides]
=>s= 4/-1
=> s= 4( -1)/ -1(-1) [multiply the numerator and the denominator of the right side by -1 ]
=>s=-4

3s + 2 = 5s + 10
put all the s at the same side,
3s - 5s = 10 -2
when switch side, "+" to "-", "-" to "+"
-2s = 8
s = 8/-2
s= -4
3s + 2 = 5s + 10
3(-4) + 2 = 5(-4) +10
-12 + 2 = -20 +10
-10 = -10

3s + 2 = 5s + 10 (Subtract 5s and 2 from both sides)
-2s = 8 (Divide both sides by -2)
s = -4
Check:
3(-4) + 2 = 5(-4) + 10
-12 + 2 = -20 + 10
-10 = -10

METHOD 1:
Let A = 3s+2 = 5s+10
A -3s = 2;....(i)
A - 5s = 10....(ii)
Subtracting (ii) from (i):
2s = -8;
Or, s = -8/2
Or, s = -4
METHOD 2:
3s+2 = 5s+ 10
Or, (3s+2) - (5s+10) = 0
Or, (3s-5s) +(2-10) = 0
Or, (-2s) + (-8) = 0
Or, -2s -8 = 0
Or, -2s = 0+8
Or, -2s = 8
Or, s = 8/-2
Or, s = -4
Thus in terms of the two methods given above, s = -4 is the required solution to the given problem.

ok, first what we do is to bring the variable to one side and the constants to the other.
So,it becomes :
3s-5s=10-2 ( I hope you must have understood the change in
sign)
If you havent , any constant or variable has its sign changed when it comes to a different side of the "=" sign.
next step would be
-2s=8 which leads to -s=8/2
2 was being multiplied to s in left hand side of "=" and so when it is taken to the right hand side. It will be dividing 8. The 2 goes from top on left hand side to bottom on right hand side.
An easy way to remember this
which is equal to -s=4
To make "s" positive. The negative sign shifts to 4.
Thus,
s= -4
hope I could make it clear enough.

u have to get rid of the 2 by doing this
1.3s+2-2=5s+10-2
so now u have this
3s=5s+8
now u get rid of the 5 by doing this
3s-5s=5s+8
so now u should have -2s=8
now devide both sides by -2...
you should get s=-4
now check your work
3(-4)+2=5(-4)+10
-12+2=-20+10
-10=-10
and ther u have it!

Put the variables on one side of the equation and the numbers on the other.
3s-5s=10-2
-2s=8
The rest is cake.

3 s + 2 = 5 s + 10
3 s + 2 - 2 = 5 s + 10 - 2
3 s = 5 s + 8
3 s - 5 s = 5 s - 5 s + 8
- 2 s = 8
-2 s / -2 = 8 / -2
s = -4
