Yes it sucks that the whole planet is superficial. But, even so, don't you find your eyes drifting to what you find attractive?

Well in all honesty, it had not been a problem till the mid to late-60's when a model by the name of Twiggy, started appearing on magazines. After that, every woman seemed to think that they needed to look like her, thus the self-esteem of the women in the world went down significantly, especially for the ones who could not achieve that look. It is a shame that people can not be accepting of those who are not "perfect" and that they cannot seem to see past the fact that there may be other reasons as to why they cannot achieve that look (there are diseases that cause people to be overweight and whatnot). Society seems to have been corrupted by what the big wigs in the industries think that "the look" should be.
People need to look past the exterior, because the inner beauty is almost always different.

You are completely right. Society has done nothing but to destroy the self esteem of millions of people around the world. Society is corrupt. Everything that society touches becomes instantly impure. Wether it be an idea, a fashion, or a new way of life, society will corrupt it and categorize it into one of millions of groups that are existing. If one is not fitting, society will create a new group and either idolize it or discriminate it. This is the reason why so many people are going through anorexia, plastic surgerys, and in some extreme and sad cases, suicides. Our society should be based on equality and the only group that should exist is this "human beings" This is impossible though, no matter how perfect it would seem, we would never achieve it because it is only human nature to challenge ones beliefs. This is the reason that we as humans can never achieve TRUE love or TRUE justice or TRUE peace in our world. Then again this can only be decided by the people experiancing these things.

This world and everything in it, including your body, is and are only illusions. You are here to explore the intensity of exsistence, how you do it...doesnt matter. And ESPECIALLY how you look while your doing it doesntt matter. Your face, ur body design is just a program u recieved from ur parents, then you go out into the world believing u are the program and the suddeenly feel pressure to have a certian body, and when u fall for that trap...you fall hard. How many minutes of a day does an average prson spend on thinking about the way they look? What does this tell us about our society? If you cant learn to live with yourself then you'll never remember how to truly live'

I don't think it is "peer pressure". I think it is the desire to be desired by the opposite sex. If I was a fat, bloated waste of a human being (and who is to say I"m not?) and everyone hated me, but I still got hot ladies, I wouldn't care at all. I think the same goes for most people, the practical reason behind it is to get a mate.

Inner beauty is wonderful but the damage caused by obesity is not to be discounted. Focus on health and everything will be will be great, self esteem has no greater boost than accomplishment.

i am heavier and i know for a fact the effect it has on fat people .... skinnier people look down on fat people they dont look at the inner person as yes they should i agree... so then yes there fore us fat people have or get low self esteem due to this and it can either attribute or cause us to not want to lose the weight we get to a low where why try no one cares any ways ... we hope no one looks at us... or talks to us...it will all just be fake anyways....i am a nice person inside if people took the time to see that and if i could let them get beyond the barrier of the low self esteem issue yes....and it isnt like i have an ugly face or anything my face is attractive ....i just weight 200lbs

I have no desire to be skinny. just not overweight. life lasts longer if your not straining your heart. not low self esteem, change of attitude, be good to me. The better I am to me, the better I will be to you, yes inner beauty creates outward beauty.

I don't think society really cares. It's only a few weak-minded
insecure folks who need a kite tail to swing by.
And after they have their 1st kid they quickly give it up due to
unwanted wt. they can't lose. It's only what's in front of them
they see. Once the picture changes, so does their point of view.
