Where do you think these starving children are located?
A lot of the time relief agencies can't get food to the starving people because that countries military won't let them in or there's a war going on. Usually, the food gets stolen before it gets to it's intended recipients.

There are other big killers in the United States that require big money, too. Heart Disease, Alzheimer's and the homeless in the United States. Starving children around the world is a problem that we face, but so are the others and they require just as much attention. The money being spent on research helps to develope new drugs and technology to fight cancer every year and ultimately someday may be the source of a cure for cancer. Also, that money doesn't just go for research... some of it is going to the families that have to pay for chemotherapy and other hospital bills for their children that are suffering from cancer.
If you really want to look at wasted funds.. we need to make sure our government isn't wasting tax dollars on figuring out how fast ketchup can poor through a strainer...which they have given grants for in the past. It would be worth taking a hard look at those sorts of things that could benefit areas that really are in need of that money.

Each cause has its own merits. Cindy has lost a sibling (or maybe more, I don't remember) to cancer, who are we to say that our cause is better than hers?
Maybe it is not about the cause at all, maybe it is about the differences that a stand might make. It might be little, or it might be of huge impact, but still, it will change things, if not for many, then for one. And maybe, that is enough.

Money cures everything......I see it now......let's give everyone lots of money and then everyone will no longer starve!!!!
They can buy anything they want.....
Or can they? The cold hard fact is: There is not enough of anything to go around. As sad as it is to see a starving child, know this: the planet cannot support this many people. No amount of money will grow enough food for everyone.
So get off the podium and do some thinking before you shoot your mouth off.

"...Think of the millions or even billions of dollars spent on research with no results..." HOGWASH!
Wonder how holier-than-thou you'd be if YOU had cancer.

Well, I say they should all take birthcontrol pills...If you can't feed 'em, don't breed 'em.
