I'm doing research on economics. If you pay your utilities late because of your economic situation, I would appreciate knowing: 1] who is your utility company? 2]are you always under the threat of disconnection and 3] how much is your late fee? You're not alone. Your answers will really help! Thank you.

1) I have PG&E
2) No because you can pay your bill at least a month late with no reprimands whatsoever. Sometimes if I don't have the money I will just ignore the bill and wait until the next month's bill comes and pay the combined bill when I have sufficient funds (since you have a couple weeks to pay it, too, it gives you a good 6 weeks leeway)
3) There are no late fees at least not if you only wait a few months...even more "incentive" not to worry about a missed bill because you will just have to pay the amount of your bill the next month with no extra fees/charges.

Dear George, I am never late paying my electric bill. I did have my power turned off once years back for non-payment but that was when I was a drug addict (you know I had priorities)
