You should consult with your doctor, it can help regulate your period, also lessen headache's length of flow, but it can also do many different things to different people, for instance, it can make your breasts larger, it can make you feel bloated, it can increase your appetite, and even make you have headache's so many things please consult with your family doctor, make sure she is a woman, because she has been there and done that and can relate to you much better, than even the best male doctor can!

They can be different for everyone. Obviously, people who smoke should never use them, because of the blood clot risk. Side effects for most women are usually pretty minor. I had headaches alot when I used Orthotricyclin, which is the main reason I stopped taking the pill. You may just have to try them and see for yourself. If your periods are bad enough, the small side effects and risks of the pill will be outweighed by how much it improves your life and general well-being.

My friend is on the pill and the only problems she's ever mentioned is some weight gain. She's heavier set though anyways (not big, just heavy set). It depends on your body and which ones you take though. My mom used to be on the pill also for her period and it helped her a lot and she always stayed slender, but she's naturally very slender (she was one of those stick-thin girls who ate all the time and never gained anything when she was younger).

There are alot of side effects to the pill, but there are also alot of good effects, I have been on the pill for about 4 years and it worked out great. If you're having really bad cramping the pill definitly helps out with that, along with acne.!

It depends on your own body, and what kind of birth control pills you take.
The low dose ones are the ones with the least side effects, least weight gain, depression, and bloating.
Work with your doc to find the one that works best for you.
