Hi, about 3 months ago this wierd pimple/blackhead looking thing appeared on my arm, i guess on the front of my left shoulder. It was kinda wierd, because it had a black thing that seemed to be just under the skin. About a week ago it started pussing and bleeding a little when i touched it in the shower, which i figured was part of it being a pimple. Today however, i noticed a wierd little black lump thing poking out of it, so i squeezed the area a little and it poked out some more, and after i got out of the shower i grabbed the protusion with some tweezers and it slipped right out. The thing i pulled out is mostly black, and about the size and consistency of a pebble. The only thing it kind of reminds me of is a baby tooth, except its black and pointy on 1 end. the now gaping hole (1-2 mm in diameter) pussed a lot, but after like 15 minutes its pretty much stopped. what is this and what should i do? im thinking it might be some sort of bone fragment that rose and poked its way out.

I don't think this is anything too bad, i mean it doesnt hurt any more than having a pimple pop hurts, and its not really red or anything more than 2 mm away from the wound. I've still got the object, and it is rock hard, i tried crunching it with my finger nail and didnt have any luck. I dont recall any symptoms of a spider bite, and especially not a brown recluse bite. Looking at it, it looks more and more like a small tooth. The pointy part appears to be the area where it sticks into your gum, it even has that wierd little drilled looking part where the blood vessel (or something?) goes into it at a diagonal. Well im still creeped out at any rate, i guess im going to the docs soon.

Hey now, that link proves in my mind that I do not have a brown recluse spider bite. This showed up 3 months ago and has never ever been more than 3-4 mm in diameter. Once i pulled the solid object (not listed as any sort of symptom from a brown recluse bite) out, my skin around the area seems completely healthy and pink, it just has a small hole from where this thing came out of it.

You may have had a piece of glass or something lodged in there........Be glad it came out........When glass gets stuck in the skin the calcuim around it makes it hard like a tooth and it seems to grow............

I agree with the answer of the possibility of a bite from the brown recluse spider. My mother just went through this. It is very important for a doctor to look at this. Because you can get something called MRSA and it's resistant to most antibiotics. She had to have a pic line put in because the one medication that they can give for the MRSA is rough on the veins so they put a picc line in her since the vessles are bigger closer to the heart. MRSA can be VERY dangerous. It is also known as the flesh eating disease. Which the black you are discribing sounds like hers did. She is cured now but she had to have that medicine put in that pic line ever 12 hours and does not come in pill form. Here is a link on MRSA. But please go see your doc.

Bones aren't black unless they have decayed. Perhaps it was a small hair follicule that was split within a bump that occurs in the armpit due to irritation from shaving... and probably that bump bursted. But I can't tell because I have no idea what that might look like.. you should go see a dermatologist (skin doctor) and schedule an appointment to see if it is anything serious or if it has to do something with your sweat glands in your pits.

GOOD LUCK!!!

:)

Sounds like a ruptured cyst, embedded foreign object that has worked its way out or as suggested above a spider bite can produce something similar to what your describing (had one too)

I'm thinking it could be a sebacious gland infection, due to the blood and pus. Sebacious glands are what produce oil in the skin, and sometimes they can get clogged. You should never try to remove these things yourself, since you could spread the infection. My suggestion would be to save the black pointy thing, and take it and your arm to your doctor or dermatologist, and have him or her examine it to make sure it isn't malignant.

Check with your doctor, but it might have been a reaction to a brown recluse spider bite.

OH MY GOD!!! that sounds like something out of a horror novel. gosh. ummm....it could have been a simple black head or some dirt in a pore and it sat over time creating a shell of some sorts. maybe a calcium build up. god....i have no idea. but you should really tell your doctor!!!

Bone usually isn't black.
I think that you need to go in and get it checked out.
Make sure your tetanus shot is up todate, and get something to clear up any infection that may be at that site.
Did you keep the removed object?
if so bring it with you.

It seems like a cyst, I have had 2 of those and they are really nasty. Does it hurt? Yes, you have to go to the doctor. Just go....
