would it be racist to require black people (African-Americans, or any one of dark skin) to wear reflecters at night? or at least brighter clothing? I mean we have dumb people of all races that like to race across main streets darting in front of cars all the time, but unfortunately being harder to see kind of comes with the territory at night for those of the darker skin.
i'm just wondering because i almost nailed three of them on my pizza delivery tonight because i couldn't catch them in my periphial (spelling?) vision. i don't know, ,maybe a law that says you guys have to at least smile or keep your eyes open wide...

Yes, I think it is racist. The color of the person is less important than the color of their clothing in terms of seeing them at night. It would be easier to avoid hitting a black person wearing a white shirt than it would be to avoid hitting a white person wearing a black shirt. You need to slow down and think about other people's lives, not getting the pizza to the house in 5 minutes. Besides, with the high costs of gas, jackrabbit starts and speeding will cost you more than your tip money. Also, if you kill or hurt a pedestrian, kiss your pizza delivery job goodbye!

Every morning I drive down a fairly busy but dark road to work. There's a young woman who walks the length of the road, I assume to her own work. She walks facing traffic but there really are no shoulders on the road and one of these days she's gonna get hit.
She's white skinned, with long dark hair she always wears in a braid. It was dark and raining this 6:30 a.m. and there she was in all dark clothing - did I mention she walks like she's still asleep?
EVERYBODY should wear bright clothing in the dark!

I think that is a good idea for everyone to wear reflectors at night because there are all kinds of people who don't know how to either drive or walk across the street at the appropriate time...

Well, I think people of all color, any race, should wear reflective clothing at night. In a way, some may say its racist but if you look at it as a safety issue, I would say it would be a good idea.

Dude, you have more White people "Light skinned people" die and get hit by a car every night more than a Black man is hit. We don't need to reflects, no sun screens, no tanning, etc, we are natural and need no artificial to make our life better or look better.
What about White people wearing all black, such as trench coats.

I see your problem and have dealt with it before, I would suggest staying out of the street for the pedestrians...lots of people like to walk in the middle of the road for some reason...

Yeah, I'm thinkin' that would be racist to require it by law. It would make sense though for anyone who thinks they might fit in that catagory to try to lighten up a bit for your own safety.

You don't want that. It's called thinning the herd. If they are stupid enough to dart into traffic at night (regardless of what color they are) they deserve whatever they get.

Everyone needs to wear reflectors. It is not just for specific skin colors.
