What is the purpose of this trend?

No. It won't last as long. The purpose of the "trend" is that Christians put the symbol on their cars to let the world know that Christ is LORD. This may also come with the heart conviction that you should be kind and generous to others which would cause more wear and tear on your car. Possibly. Just a thought, fart face.

The fish was a symbol so the Christians could recognize each other during the occupation of the Romans in their countries. I have one in the back of my car and I drive a 1976 Toyota Corolla. But I don't think it has lasted this long because of it.

My mother has a fish on her car and a bumper sticker that reads
"My Boss is a Jewish Carpenter!"
She bought the car, a Toyota new in 1983.
All she ever does is put gas in it and not alot of that. It still gets great mileage.
