Actually, I have a brother who is gay. I reacted by first being surprised because I never would have guessed it because he wasn't effeminite or anything like that before. He is not really overboard or anything, just a regular guy who happens to be gay. Anyway, I asked a lot of questions because I hadn't really had that much contact with gay people before. I wanted to know when and how he knew he was gay and what it was like. I also wanted to make sure that he was okay because I knew that a lot of gay people get made fun of and things like that. I also let him know that I was cool with it and nothing had changed, I still love him no matter what and don't want him to worry about anything. That was several years ago and today he is completely out and my whole family just accepts it and it's like nothing has changed, he is just a normal person.

As a Christian, I would try to address it as I would any sin. If my brother told me he was an alcoholic, I would advise him to find a way to stop drinking. If he was a thief, I would tell him to find other means of earning money. People have all kinds of weaknesses, but it is our responsibility to exercise self control. I would advise him to stay away from the temptation, that is, other gays. Temptation is not sin. Living a gay lifestyle is sin according to God's Word. It's also extremely unhealthy.
If he would receive Christ into his life, He would help him to find other interests. He might not be successful at giving up the sin all the time, but if he fell, he could ask the Lord to forgive him and cleanse him of his sin and He would give him another chance. God is a God of second chances. He knows we are but dust and loves us even with our failures. The problem lies in not admitting to God that we have sinned.

You only have two choices when finding out your brother or sister is gay.
1) deal with it and be happy for them
2) never talk to them again
I definitely would not recommend the second reason but it has happend. I don't think that it would change my opinion or love for them if I were to find out my younger sister was a lesbian or bisexual. I would be happy for her and who ever she is with at the time.

It happened to me and I was told by my brother that is very reserved. While he paced my floor for 3 hours I imagined the worse. When he finally told me that our older professional brother was gay, I couldn't speak but was amused by my brothers reaction to what he called "hair in the butter" To each their own! I still love him anyway. As far as the other brother, he still can't take it.

come on if they were ,you would probably know before they did
.
brothers and sisters are usually aware of their brothers or sisters sexual preferences (,because of thousands of looks that they have observed ,in their life at home )even before the person has been able to admit it to himself.

I can honestly say that it does not bother me and did not bother me when I found out that my brother was gay. As long as he was happy it is no body Else's butts who matter when it comes to there decision. I love him and will always love him no matter what sex he is with...

It wouldn't effect me. I love all 3 of my brothers the same no matter what. They could rob a bank and I'd still love them, maybe be mad but I would still love them and be there for them.

It would be a shock but if that's the lifestyle that they choose to live I would rather accept them and still have them in my life than to reject them and loose them forever.

i would not mind... being gay is a matter of sexual preference.. it do not make a person's attitude or character good or bad.. they are still my sibling and they still deserve the same respect and love from me..
