Your periods will begin to be abnormal for you in that you will skip some or they will be lighter, or shorter. You may have hot flashes & be a little irritable. A blood test can tell you if your hormone level is normal. Screw your soon-to-be-ex!!!

Go to your gyno or general practice Dr. There is a blood test
to detect premenopause. My Dr checks my hormone levels once a year and Im 42 so far my hormones are not indicating menopause.
Your soon to be ex is probobly the one with the midlife crisis.
He is looking for something to use as an excuse to leave.
Since your cycle is still regular I would say he is the one with a hormone imbalance.

Good Luck!! Life starts at 40 enjoy!

There are tests to determine the amount of estrogen in your system, which are usually indicative of a pre-menopausal condition. Peri-menopause, or pre-menopause can occur at your age, but that's at the lower end of the scale. Most women are between 47-55 before arriving at this stage in their lives, but that's just an average. Your gyno can tell you for sure.

As for your soon-to-be ex, he's full of baloney. Mid-life crisis is a misnomer --It's psychological because there's no such thing physically, and has nothing to do with pre-menopause or hormones. He's probably just looking for an excuse to cover up for his own behavior.

You may be perimenopausal, but this is not uncommon for 43, it doesn't mean you are near the menopause, it could be another 10 years or so before that happens. But the perimenopause can cause hormonal changes, cause an array of symptoms. You could consider going on the pill, I would speak to your doctor or obgyn. Take care : )

An ex-husband isn't the person to determine whether you're going through a "crisis" or perimenopausal - he's hardly objective, after all. By all means, go to your doctor if you're truly concerned; and remember that if you're experiencing a drop in estrogen levels, and since men don't produce nearly as much estrogen as a woman, you're just started to change a bit to a state men are in all the time!

MEN I think I am going thru it also. I am up and down most of the night sweating like crazy, I am very emotional, my cycle is regular also. I think it is probably premenopausal. My husband knows I am going thru some kind of woman stuff, but he still can't resist to put me thru hell. If you go to your doctor, talk about natural hormone therapy, I plan to. I don't like the idea of getting facial hair, and gaining wt. because of hormone therapy.

Are you flashing/having hot flashes? I started flashing at your age. I just celebrated my 45th on the 18th(aug)Woo hoo!! and I have irregular cycles. Once,2 mos. nothing, yippie! Once, one month on,one month off. Boooooo!!
Have your doctor check your blood(for changes in hormones). I don't know why the women I know, that have gone through it,don't celebrate it! Some treat it as a death sentence. Me,it's christmas everyday! Y.

You go to the OBGYN, they run the appropriate hormone tests... the levels of the hormones will tell you which stage you are in.
Black and white, then you can show that idiot where you are .

43 isn't always early. My great grandma had hers at 42. Pre menapause includes heat flashes, insomnia I think, and it does include getting a lot more emotional.
