If you mean who was the best rapper that came out for the first time, I'd have to say it would be Rhymefest hands down...He's lyrical as hell in a world where rappers rely heavily on nursery rhymes to score hits...

If you're asking what was the best rap cd out this year, I'd also have to say his...

ANSWER CHANGE: I just got the new Roots cd..."Game Theory" defintiely takes it for the year.

Added after reading the answer above mine:

Chris Brown, Ciara, Lyfe Jennings, and Avant are all R&B singers and nowhere close to rappers...

I think there are alot of good rapers this yr, but I would have to say Kanye West if you listen he talks about world issues not just drinking screwing and smoking and women. Although his attitude sucks!

Busta Rhyme, with that song "touch it", He had some good singers and rappers that collaborated on that track, very good beat, just wonderful overall.
