They want to get odd-ball answers so that it is interesting and even shocking news to the viewers. More intellectual people tend to give dull responses or simple yes and no type answers.

Oh God I know! There could be an intelligent person standing dead in front of the camera and they also walk up to the person with no teeth or grammatical skills.

To catch them off guard that they come up with a frank answer on planet earth.
Found they were at lost with self lack of knowledge on planet earth.
Without catching them offguard we do not know they were having problems with self lack of knowledge for their own survival on planet earth.
So they are not stupid by-standers on planet earth.
