Boric acid will work..But you have to vacuum regularly and throw away the bag each time..Then rertreat your carpets..It takes weeks...You can have an exterminator come in and spray for them..but I recommend sparying your yard with malathion..(be careful with pets water and food dishes) and then bombing the place every 3 weeks three times to ensure that you kill all unhatched eggs. All you have to do is clean the surfaces that your children might put in their mouths..
I hope this helps..
Blessed Be~

You must take several steps at the same time to rid your home of fleas. If you have pets they need to be bathed and dipped, yard needs to be treated, house needs to be treated with flea bombs. It's important to vacuum daily as well . And by doing so the vacuum bag needs to be emptied each time, because they will crawl back out into your home. Fleas hatch every 7 days. They also like the light from the window or door areas so you may find those areas more infested. You may have to do all this process a couple of times depending on how bad your home is infested. I would also use some Avon Skin so Soft around your children's feet, ankles, and leg areas until you cure the flea problem. Fleas don't like Avon's Soft so Soft, so that will help them from getting flea bites.

There is a product offered in Doctors Faster and Smith (Dog and Cat Magazine) that is a blue light that you plug into a wall outlet near the floor. The blue light attracts the fleas and kills them with out the use of poison. Of course you should do all the other necessary measures. Shampoo carpets and furniture, clean all sheets and curtains (use the dryer-the heat kills them) and flea med ALL Pets! I use Front line which is medicine not poison and safer for pets and people. All this is in Foster and Smith. Check out DrsFosterSmith.com

Pennyroyal repels fleas. Sprinkle salt in the carpet and let it sit a week. Strew banana peels around. Kills them. Salt explodes the eggs. The best thing I did when I had this problem was to stop banishing the pets.Let them in several times a day. The fleas will ride them out. Vacuum and throw away or burn the bag every time.

CHRYSANTHEMUMS!!!! Not only do theym repel flea's.... but if you put the dried or fresh flowers under your couch cushions, and vacuum some up in the vacuum, and sprinkle them under all your furniture, they will kill the flea's FAST, and prevent them from coming back again!!!!! IT WORKS, believe me I've tired it, and still use it. Also plant some in your yard, and by the doorways outside to prevent them from coming in the house. Works fast, safe, and long term, you may have to replace the flowers in the house every year, but that's about it!!!

Sounds like you need a professional. I wouldn't try some plant at this point. What's the plant gonna do? Grow legs and reach into your house?
