OK, free great tip here, just give me best answer.

When you hire movers, they usually give you an estimate, you know lets say $50.00 an hour, estimated at 6 hours so $300.00..

Now you know the guys who do the work, they usually get paid by the hour, so they don't really care about the whole deal, and so it stands to reason that in the end, they get lost or move slow or act retarded and it takes 10 hours and now it's $500, and you're pissed, and no tip for them.

I always tell them that if they come in under the estimate, I pay the estimate and they keep the money.

Then the job really takes three hours and they all get a worthwhile tip, and I save money...

Brilliant! Don't say I never did anything for you.

Yes, to the tip. How much would depend on if they have to haul heavy things up @ down a bunch of steps. If you think they did a good job then i would give them between 5-10 dollars apiece. there will probably be three guys. It's a judgment call.

I moved across town last year. I tipped the guys (3) $30 each. Also bought them subs for lunch, and provided Gatorade for them.

Yes, they did a good job.

Look at it this way,not only will they charge you for the move, they will charge you for the weight of each item. Now,do you think they need a tip?

No need to tip. You have already negotiated a set rate or per hour rate.

I tipped a mover $300.00 once, it was four guys.

The next time I moved the guys wouldn't accept it. I don't think tipping them is customary.

You better tip before they start moving or they WILL break and "lose" stuff.

You can if you want to... it's best when you know that they didn't take any of your stuff though.
