With the right people ferrets can be an absolute 10. You just have to know what you're doing and be willing to do it. Ferrets are time consuming and labor intensive and require you to learn all there is to know about them. In the right hands they don't smell any worse than a dog or a cat and it's stinkin' litter box.
I have four ferrets and people don't even realize I have animals until they walk into the ferret room.

They are not for everyone. You have to read about them for at least a year before getting one. Their smell is like any other animal. I've had ferrets for 3 yrs now and i'm still learning more and more about them. They each has their own personality. I have 13 of them. They range from 6 yrs to 8 months. They get a bath once a month. My husband and i rate them a 10. Just remember make sure a ferret is right for you. Good luck!!

Okay, I owned a ferret for six years. He was descented and neutered and I bathed him once per week so he did not "stink." He was a nice pet - he was very social and interactive and liked to snuggle up next to my feet in bed and fall asleep. Mine was not nippy and did not bite. He was a small, easily manageable size of pet. I walked him outside on a leash. I have birds now so I would not have a ferret in the house - they are very effective predators of birds and small animals - and I feel it is just to dangerous to keep a ferret in the house especially since they are great escape artists and can slip into small places. They are nice pets, kind of like a cat and very playful. I'd rate them a "7" as pets.

You know.. that is a personal thing.. I love all animals but I would prefer another animal (dog/cat) to a ferret so that person may say 8.. another 3 but for me, I would have to say 4

Ferrets are great pets. You just have to be real careful. As they get into everything.

they DO stink. and their litter stinks because they do not cover it up like a cat. however, I have had every kind of pet available, and ferrets are my ultimate favorite. they are smart, cute, funny, lovable.....I wouldn't give mine up for anything.

i love animals but ferrets kind of gross me out. they smell and have beady little eyes......... i don't do well with rodents. for me they get a 3 cause they are funny lil' critters

i don't personally like they, but my granddaughter loves them.
so i'll say 4 for me, they are cute, but those beady eyes get me.
for my granddaughter they get a 10, but only because i won't let her say higher. good luck on your report.
