I try to think of happy things, and think about jokes, so I appear to end up laughing for no reason. Or, I could always think on the bright side; it works!

When I'm sad I have a good cry. I put on a sad song or think of my brother who passed away. It usually lasts about 5 minutes (the crying). After that I'm ok. Within 15 minutes I am usually in a good mood again.

I give myself about 30 minutes to dwell on the sadness - if necessary - and then I say, "That's enough of that - it's a waste of my time." I let it go and move on with my day.

You know... if you think about it, anger is a complete waste as well; it doesn't provide or accomplish anything.

u look around at others misery and try 2 help them. the benefit is that it makes u happier 2 help someone worse off, which in turn gives u an inner glow that makes your own sadness lessen. and double benefit is that when u see others sadder than yourself it also makes u realise how lucky u r not 2 b as sad as the person u r helping which in turn gives u hope and also lessens yr sadness

I talk to a friend about it. I listen to their problems too. Seems to help (me, that is). I feel bad because that person is having more difficulty sharing their pain than I am and I really want to reciprocate but sometimes that's just the way it is.
