If you pay less then $10 for the headphones they will probably break.

I would go get a $15-$25 pair and be extra careful with them. They will probably last over a year. I had the same problem with my headphones I never used then on an Mp3 player but I used them at my PC.

Go for a headphones cos the sound reproduction and the quality is better. For this you have to go for not any normal headphones but go for something good like the Px100 by Sennheiser. Trust me its the best you can get and it has atwo year warranty too. It has a case, so you can keep it safe and you can fold it. It cost from 35-50$. Its gonna last for a long time and it wont break off one fine morning. Even i hav gone through all that **** thats why i suggest Px100.

Use an eye dropper to put some isopropyl alcohol in to the ear phone jack and shake it around a bit. You may just have corroded contacts and that is why your ear phones don't want to work. You may find that they work quite well on some other device.
