Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.
Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is a medical condition in which the median nerve is compressed at the wrist causing symptoms like tingling, numbness, night time wakening, pain, coldness, and sometimes weakness in parts of the hand.
The first symptoms of CTS usually appear when trying to sleep.[2] Symptoms range from paresthesia (a burning, tingling numbness in the fingers, especially of the thumb and index and middle fingers) to difficulty gripping and making a fist. Inability to firmly grasp and dropping things is common. If left untreated the symptoms can progress, and increasing pain intensity can further restrict hand functionality. In the early stages of CTS, individuals often mistakenly blame the tingling numbness on their sleeping position, thinking their hands have had restricted circulation and are simply "falling asleep".

Sounds more musculoskeletal related than heart related. Probably a "Thoracic outlet syndrome" where your thoracic artery gets caught between muscles called scalenes and even sometimes your clavicle. Try elevating your arms and open and closing your hands, if you experience pain in your hand it would be due to decreased blood supply ( claudication) from that area of your lower neck and upper back (cervicothoracic region) . The raising of your hand and action of it further accentuates the problem. This is scene in people who do lots of typing at a computer station and seems likley from what you describe. Heart situation would be in the left arm and more severe and you probably would have stroked out already. That situation combined with a repetitive stress injury like "carpal tunnel" could further accentuate the problem, this is known as a "double crush syndrome" becuase you arm affecting 2 parts of the chain. An example would be If you kink a hose in two areas rather than just 1 tou could imagine how more flow would be shut down easier. A Chiropractor could easily diagnose and alleviate those symptoms

Yep, swelling in your back is pinching a nerve. Take an anti inflammatory like ibuprofen for a few days to decrease the swelling and impingement

My body has picked on me for years thanks to my back. I have a degenerative
spine, so I never know whats next, but my hands and arms take turns being numb or my fingers not working properly.
If you hurt your back in an accident, you will ALWAYS have back problems. I hope you have a great doctor that listens to you. Doctors tend to blow off women with any symptoms as hormones or nervousness. I hope you have a healing of your spine, sometimes it gets hard to stay a nice person when you are in constant pain. You are a nice person, don't let pain or the world twist you.**** (email link didnt work)

I have the same thing. It is from an old back injury that didn't heal right and now it's affecting the nerves in my left arm, shoulder and back.
Yours could be a lot of different things so it's probably best to go see a doctor before it gets painful. I waited and now I suffer horrible pain in my back, shoulder, arm and hand.

Its carpal tunnel. try laying off typing and getting a wrist gaurd. I dont think its related to your back. It can happen after just 4 days of typing too much. Try using a mouse thats not on your laptop where you use a finger as a mouse,,,,thats totally bad for your hand!

Get the Dr to do an EMG ( nerve conduction test) this will tell him whether there is a nerve compressed in your arm. If the test is negative, ask to have an MRI done ... this will show cervical spine injuries and compressions.

Even without your mentioning your fall... etc.. I was going to say it has all the markings of a nerve problem.. but NOW that you mention your back problem, etc etc.. it could be that a nerve is going bad. I would waste NO time in going to a nerve specialist to try to catch it in time in order to make any remedial action necessary.

well, this could be because you have pulled that muscle. but the left hand is usually related to heart problems. i used to have the same problem and a medic told me to take it easy because of my heart.....you could check with your doctor in order to get an experts opinion.....
