and even if you could choose....why would anyone choose to be gay, the object of hate and ridicule?

if you force gays to pretend to be straight, and they do that for legal reasons, healthcare, and other benefits..........they will marry straights just to fit in...

Wow jaguar - equating homosexuality with murder. You're frickin' pathetic. And ignorant.

Im a republican and firmly believe its genetic...

I also purposely do not refer to "gays" as "gays".

Why? Im perfectly comfortable in my masculinity. I have no need to say "hey, meet my gay friend, John". I say "meet my friend. John"

If "gays" would stop ramming it down our throats that they are "gay" they would be easier to tolerate by the public. Yes I intended the pun

I dont see any straight mans pride parade any time soon.

TO summarize: I have no problem with anyones preferences.

Good question, I don't think anyone would want to choose to be made fun of and possibly shunned by family and friends. My sister was married to a pretender for seven years. He was a terrible alcoholic. Once he came out and they divorced he quit drinking and is leading a fairly happy life. I think he drank so much ( even cough syrup and flavor extracts) because he was so tormented.

Yes adults can make choices. Children often make choices from what the learned, even from forgotten memories. Yet the child may think it is born gay. You was not born heterosexual, you chose it as a child and forgot every incident that influenced you to make your choices.

I’m not saying I believe it is a choice, but you are not using a sound argument…
People make decisions that are contrary to their own self interest all the time.

Why would anyone choose to be a nerd? ? the object of hate and ridicule…

Why would anyone choose to be a murderer? the object of hate and ridicule, and run the risk of imprisonment or capital punishment?

People don’t always think through all the choices they make
Choices are not always conscious decisions.

I’m not equating anything.. I’m not equating being gay with murdering, or being a nerd with murdering, I’m giving examples of "choices" people make that aren’t in their own self interest.
Thanks for the ad hominum attack instead of discussing the issue though, love your open-mindedness Skeffy

It isn't so much a matter of choosing to be homosexual as it is choosing mate(s) from one's own gender. Yes, there's a difference. And you ARE gay.

I am not gay either and I couldn't even think of it, no way! The people that I know that are gay told me that they chose to be that way. One woman turned gay because of the way her husband was treating her and she decided that women treated her better and I have heard that from other people that I know as well.

Yeesh! EW!
