China Berry tree's in South Mississippi need to get rid of?

I had two beautiful China Berry trees in my front yard before the hurricaine,the wind blew them down, they were very old. The city pulled them off the road but did not take out the pulled up roots, the goverment said they would do it when they came through of course they did not, now I have a thousand little trees coming out of the roots that look like a big bush that cover the house. I keep cutting them down, I would like to know how to kill these roots naturaly without pulling them up, that I was told could cause problems.

I hate to tell you this but the best way would probably be to get a back hoe and dig it up by its roots. Herbacides tend to stay in the ground too long and are indescriminate in what they kill.

we have had china berry trees and could never get rid of them I have heard from others they very stubborn tree to dispose of
