Words don't hurt as bad as actions, or in some cases, inactions.

In society today hurtful words are more common than kind words. I find that most hurtful comments are made due to thoughtlessness rather than just trying to be mean. Any more children are not taught to be considerate of others, they are taught to look after themselves and always win, so as they grow up being considerate is not even in the thought process.

I don't "let" ppl hurt me. It just happens. Some ppl are just mean and nasty and use words to hurt others. As I'm more sensitive than most ppl I do get hurt quite a bit. As I've gotten older it's gotten to be a little better with ppl not hurting me as much and me not hanging around the ppl who would do something like that. But that's me.

Never. I worked for the railroad for over 20 years and with all the insults that fly around at work there, you learn real fast to become thick skinned and give as good as you get. I have learned to take the most hurtful comment by someone and turn it into a joke.

Being the over-sensitive type I get hurt very often with words. I don't think people mean it most of the time, but I take everything to heart
I'm going to have to learn to become a hard-faced b*tch !!!

Why let words hurt you? They only hurt if you care about them. If (for example) someone says "That is a crap haircut", what do they know? if someone says "That is an ugly baby", what do they know? In any case, what does it matter what they think? What they think is not more important than what you think, is it?
I suspect you are being hurt by someone "close", and it would be better if you pushed them away, so it doesn't matter to you what they think.

Are you a Bone Head or what? These questions are ridiculous.
Did you fall out of the Stupid Tree & hit every branch on the way down?
This is just constructive criticism, not trying to hurt your feelings.

I try not to let them hurt me, I just think that they must have something really bad going on in their lives if they have to say mean things to someone else. Of course it can hurt that people say mean things, especially if they are really personal, but I try not to let it bother me that much.

Victoria,
Words can be extremely vicious
and sometimes they cause more
pain the physical abuse. Words
are 'intangible' in that they are said,
and gone, but they stay, don't they.
Some people are masters at this
game, and the best thing you can
do is ignore and avoid them at
all costs.
'Silence is Golden'!
Stay well-
