You can use the same CD/DVD drive to play the game, and watch movies when you are not gaming. The trick to that is always always... keep safe place to put your game disk. If it falls on the floor and gets scratched up, you might have trouble using it again. A good cleaning sometimes helps. Don't clean it with a circular rubbing but straight across.

Some people have two drives just so they can always leave the game inside. Then they use the other drive for movies or reading other CDs. But lots of people have only one CD drive. And there's no problem there, but it just means you have to handle your disk more if you need to use the drive for something else. So keep a spare clean case around for temporary changes.

The Sims 2 for PC is a great game but not all computers can run it. Do check out your system specs to be sure you actually can play the game. If you don't understand the requirments listed on the game label, this test makes it easier. If you get red areas on the test, then those need to be tweaked. If it's all green, then you're good to go!

Ahhh ya you do. This happened to me before. I got the game. Got all exited. Then I couldn't play the game because the computer couldn't handle it. As the other person said, check the box, it will tell you what you need. Its not there for nothing so don't lessen to the other people there wrong. Its not there for fun its there for a purpose. But all in all aim not sure if its the same for a CD Drive. But I beg you check the other stuff. It sucks if you can't play a game that you want to play ssssssoooooooo bad.

You just need a cd rom drive, but make sure you have a good graphics card. Sims 2 needs a good 3D card to run properly, or you get choppy gameplay and a bad lag. Nvidia GeForce or an ATI Raedon 9500 card or better will be perfect.

HUH? Do you have a DVD-rom or a CD-rom in your computer? Read that box and it tells you what you need to run the game. If your computer is new, it should be able to handle it.

No, but obviously larger is better. You should also check the access time - shorter means faster, and faster is better. Faster is also more expensive, so there's a trade-off there.
