If your cycle is 28-30 days, you could take a test now, but make sure to use your first morning's urine sample. You'll want your urine to be concentrated (higher concentration=higher amount of hcg present, the pregnancy hormone that hpts detect. Also the brand of hpt makes a difference, too. Some detect as little as 25milliunits of hcg while others can only give you a positive once it's 150. Funny thing, the 99cent stores only carry a test that's one of the most sensitive ones that you can purchase ...for 99 cents! I had zero symptoms with both of my pregnancies when I took my tests and got positive results. It's still very early to have strong symptoms. Those usually kick in by 6 weeks gestation - about two weeks from when your period is due.

You might get an answer now, but waiting a couple more days would probably get you a more accurate one. It also depends on the test, some of them are more sensitive than others.
