You wouldn't be able to see them without a microscope. True fungal infections in marine aquaria are extremely rare and often misdiagnosed. Typically what are considered fungal problems will indeed be bacterial in nature.

Cannot answer all questions but: 1) Fungal spores are very tough and they can last a very long time. 2) Yes, will get into your shoes. 3) Bleach will kill them on your clothes but I do not think that it will cure athlete's foot, if you were thinking along those lines. Keep you feet dry as much as possible and out of your shoes when you do not have to wear them. Most spores and definitely your athlete foot spores love dark, warm and moist environments like a foot inside a shoe!
