In America I work out about 5 days a week at the gym, but starting this fall I'm going to school at Jouchi daigaku, in Tokyo, Japan and I'm staying in nishi kokubunji. I know my way around shibuya and meguro-ku and chiyoda pretty well, but I haven't been there in a few years. Does anyone know if there is a fitness center or weight room of any kind in that area???

There's a gym run by the Chiyoda-ku government, located between metro Otemachi and JR Kanda stations. If you take Chuo Line from Yotsuya, you get off at Kanda, take the west exit, then follow the tracks south and you'll see it when you reach Sotobori-dori. It's a big building marked 千代田区総合体育館.

It's really cheap. The weight room is about ¥300 a visit, ¥200 if you live in Chiyoda-ku. There's also an indoor pool, basketball courts, etc. etc.

I think there are nice gyms in Kunitachi, the next station of Nishi Kokubunji.
