I guess what I'm asking is, what kind of effect would it have on the boy's personality growing up in these environments?

if a boy grows up with all brothers, he will be tougher from all the fistfights. if he grows up with all sisters he will be a sissy from all the scream and pout sessions.

"Hello Minkus!
One could think there are more fights among brothers; however, the truth is that boys with older sisters are faced with tremendous difficulties.
There are endless reasons this occurs. Chiefly, older sisters have little patience or regard for younger brothers in the household.
In the old days mothers ran the household and metted out punishment according to her will. Mothers will tend to support and protect the elder daughters over the protests of the son. Now, its worse. The number of unwed and/or divorced mothers has escalated dramatically. Research has shown that 55% of child murderers are women. Mothers kill sons much more than they kill daughters.
Gosh, I could go on and on with examples of the difficulties facing male children with their mothers.
Its been fairly reported that brothers get along much better in the long run than with sisters."

I had two sisters--one died from breast cancer in 1990, the other lives a few states away from me. I feel, as a man, that sisters show us men how to be respectful and sensitive to women, even more than a mother can show us. I am the middle child and when I lost my older sister, I lost my best friend. It doesn't make me less "manly," by the way--I'm an ex-Marine, Viet Nam veteran (hated that war too, however), and I'm married with a lovely child--a daughter (glory be). Anyway, that' my take on it.

I think that a boy growing up with sisters would be more likely to defend women more aggressively and side with their plight a little more than one who had grown up with brothers. I know that, while I love my brother, my sister has a very special place in my heart, even though we did scrap a little when we were younger. I think every boy should have a sister to take up for, to argue with, and to love.

There has been research recently that younger brothers of boys have a higher likelihood of being homosexual, and that may be true. Boys with sisters may learn to respect and like females more.
Then again, a boy with sisters may die young and we'll never know.
I still think each person follows his or her own star and will be who he or she needs to be.

In a family of all girls,..
I believe the boy would probably learn more compassion, empathy, consideration, thoughtfulness,
In family of all boys,..
I believe much the same but maybe have more of the rough housing, bullying, teasing,

when my son was growing up, he grew up in a total family of nothing but females. he said it was rough.

now that he is older, he is what they call a ladies man because he knows how his sisters reacted to different things and is prepared.

all in all, he has women eating out of his hand because he knew what to expect and how to deal with the situations.

the boy might be more intune to the emotions of his girlfriend/wife/lover/kids when he gets older. If he grew up with only males surrounding him then he would be learning from their example and probally be a little rougher around the edges.
