It depends if they are Christmas elves or mythical/literary elves.
Christmas- little, pointed ears, pointed shoes, little jackets, high voices, Santa hats
Literary elves-normal size, pointed ears, pale, long hair, some sort of robe, magical powers

Then I am reminded of my uncles funny Christmas tapes where the elves eat rudolf, and elves are losing jobs, &c. Christmas trees are falling down... thats one of the lines from a funny song off it.
