Have you seen The Others with Nicole Kidman? It's soooo creepy, without being a gory, horror movie.
Of course, if you want to combine scary and funny (OK, mostly just funny), you could get Scary Movie and all its sequels. Oh, and don't forget Scream, Scream 2 & Scream 3!
