If you want to adopt her don't you think that as your own children haven't disowned you that maybe you should discuss this with them to see how they feel first.

Yes! Bypolar are working more than ever before. They hold jobs in day care and with the government. Being mentally ill is not like being gay. If your step chld wants you to adopt her its for a good reason. The reason is your a good parent. Just be honest on all your application but dont give out any answers that were not asked. If they didnt ask if you gave up children, then dont say so. Its a disease you have, not something you caused. good luck

It would depend on how the real mother is treating her. If she is not a good mother then you can fight it in court. It depends on who is the better parent. I do not see the reason why you put she is bypolar what difference does that make because you want to adopt her?

Are you saying that you are bipolar or your step-child is? You need to contact a lawyer and then petition the court for adoption. If there is any reason that you can't or shouldn't adopt then you will find out then.

I don't think that being bi-polar would have any bearing on adopting a step child. As long as you are on your medication and stable it shouldn't be a problem.
I don't think it's right. Why do you want this child and not your own? I don't think that is fair to your own children at all. You need to do some serious thinking on this one.

Where is this child's father? Why would he want you to adopt her? You didn't want your own kids. You don't deserve another and you would eventually desert her too. Does she have a mother? She would have something to say about that. Naaa! Even dogs are better to their offspring.

If you are bi-polar it shouldn't matter. As long as you keep it under control & haven't had any incidents with police or anything like that. As old as the child is she should be able to tell the court what a great stepmom you are.

Check with your lawyer. It would depend on WHY you gave up your children, if you're deemed fit, and if the child's mother would sign the adoption papers.
