Mid Manhattan is only a trip through the tubes or over the bridge to New Jersey - Weehauken or Jersey City or Fort Lee about 15/20 minutes depending on traffic and if you are going by car or public transportation. However New York state is another scenario and can involve a lot of traveland time.
