I agree with the spirit of the question but not the rationale. I feel that the question has been hijacked by the "points earners," but I'll give you my 2 pts worth.
Bud Selig, steroids and the anti-trust exemption have destroyed baseball.
The anti-trust exemption gives Selig and friends carte blanche to do what they want without exposing themselves to legal consequences.
Selig wanted to be commissioner for life and now he gets to write baseball's obituary. The owners are next in line for blame as they reap financially while enjoying the same legal protections that Mr. Selig and his cronies receive.

How about because there are millions of people that enjoy following a game with no clock(27 outs), endless stats so that one can realistically compare eras, has a rich history, is a bonding tool for families that is passed on from generation to generation, Grandfather, to father, to son...Its the most inexpensive Major sport for a family to attend, If one really studies the game, its very intrical...need I say more....They are cleaning up their acts, and to days baseball is getting better and better. Lower scoring games,(faster) and no steroids will keep MLB in the scope of the American public, as well as the Latin World and Asia for years to come. Because before basketball and football and other organized team sports, baseball became a popular American pastime that the "average" guy and gal can play with little or no skills. Of course, professional baseball players do have skills and develop them further by their continued professional play. Further, baseball is not as complicated a sport to watch when compared to basketball and football. Because the game is slow moving you can actually see the players respond to the game. Sometimes in football, for example, unless you study up on offensive and defensive plays you don't know what happened as the "downs" progress. So, maybe you might take some opportunity to actually go to a baseball stadium and be with some friends and try to enjoy the experience. Then, pick the sport you like and let the others have the sports that they like.

Those types of situations show that Steve and other coaches, along with the parents of these athletes, have obviously done a great job imparting great qualities upon their kids.
