Well, everyone has their own opinion about what constitutes a "good" baby name. I'd recommend browsing through a book or a search engine. Take note of the names you like, and look for similarities.
Like when my husband and I were naming our baby, we typically both agreed on names that all came from a particular origin. And we both typically agreed on names with at least two syllables. You can search databases on the web by all different specifications, like, gender, length of name, origin, etc. It's really useful!
The names people give you on here, I guarantee you won't like half of them.

Here are my two favorite names for a boy and girl:
GIRL: My favorite name is Emma. I like it because my favorite book is Jane Austen's "Emma." It is the story of a strong-willed female who controls her own destiny.
BOY: My favorite name is Nicolas. My reason for liking this name is much weirder. There was this French guy who came to visit my family one summer and I fell in love with him! Unfortunately I was only 15 years old...he was 24!!! Needless to say, nothing happened, but to this day I still get excited when I think about him even though I know it was an innocent pointless crush!

I believe that you are doing the best by your child if you give him/her a name that is not "trendy." I think you should use a name that has been, for many generations, classic.
Girls: Laura, Ann, Katherine, Mary, Emily, Jane, Jeanne, Joan, Abigail, Elizabeth,Sarah, Teresa, Veronica, Victoria
Boys: John , Thomas, David, Daniel, Matthew, Aaron, Andrew, James, Mark, Henry, Adam, Robert, William, Jacob, Joshua

My son's name is Eian Micheal, but other names we considered were Adrian Luke, Erik Jameson, Marc Dominic, Xander Draco, Anthony Austin, William Reece, and Liam (but hadn't come up with a middle name, cause I love it, but his daddy hated it).
Before we found out the sex, we had a girls' list too. Our 'just in case' name was Emily Cassandra, and the other ones were Emma Cassandra, Cassandra Claire, Addiah Rose, Brooke Lynn, Moria Wendy, Wendy Tara, Sada Blaze, and Laina Zoe.
