my best friend feels like she always needs a boyfriend to keep her happy but usually she doesnt care bout them like she has them juss to have them and she always ends up dumpin them a day or 2 later also because she is always comparin boys she dates to her ex- boi , but she got this new bf she really liked and he dumped her and she feels like crap .....i figure mayb its a wake up call tellin her shes takin advantage /.....but i want her to no she doesnt need a guy to keep her happy .....how do i let her no this without soundin stupid .....and what do u think is goin on with her is it like a phase or my parents say it mite be since she doesnt hav a dad and she has no male romodel to love her as a father usually would could this be rite? or are they juss bein parents ....u c i really care about my best frriend and im tired of her thinin she needs a man to keep her happy

I used to have a friend just like yours. She acts like she can't exist if she doesn't have someone to like. Right? I know how you feel it gets very annoying quickly. Play her the song Single By Natasha Bedingfeild. It talks about how she doesn't need a guy to validate her. Your friend needs to find a place where she is happy. Remind her that she has people who love her and care about her and she doesn't need a guy 24/7. I don't think its a phase. I think its something emotional and may get worse as she gets older. Encourage her to vent by writing, talking, singing, dancing, exercising.

I would be under the impression that this person is simply using the others to bolster her ego. Think of it as her own private group of worshipers. Ones that she can pick and choose, only to be cast aside at the slightest whim.
What's going to have to happen is for her to be used and dumped (several times) in the same manner until she gets the big picture.

I can say that in my twenties I was in the same boat as her. I just wanted to feel wanted and loved when the truth was that I didn't love myself enough to see that all I was doing was making it worse on myself. Now that I am older and a bit more intuned to what I want for me and a possible mate I am willing to wait a little longer until I feel is the right time and lady to give my heart to.
