Comcast has removed the TV Guide channel from its Basic line up trying to force customers to rent their box(s) to have a listing of programming that you have paid for. This is like renting the instruction manual to assemble a product that you have purchased. Please let them know if this sounds unreasonable to you.

The above user is correct; Comcast has a monopoly on the Cable market in this area (Northwest) and they can freely raise the prices, since there is no competition.

We're thinking about switching to Qwest...we can get satellite through them, DSL, and phone (already have.)

I hate when a company has a monopoly in a certain market.

200+ channels and nothings on. There are so many channels, but my family only watches a few. I have Digital cable because I like VH1 Classic and now The Tube (but that's a digital subchannel from WPHL-DT, Philadelphia), my wife watches Soap TV, my youngest daughter loves Sprout (their evening host was excellent, I'm mad they fired her), the rest of my kids watch Nichelodeon, and I like the local Weather Channel weather feed.

You may say go sattelite. I live outside of Atlantic City, NJ. Most of our local channels are out of Philadelphia, except WMGM-TV Channel 40. This is Atlantic City/Wildwood. It has NBC programming like WPVI-TV Channel 6 out of Philadelphia, but NBC 40 has local Atlantic City area news. The Philadelphia stations cover major events in Atlantic City, but not the smaller stories that NBC 40 covers. Sattelite providers do not carry NBC 40, and I cannot easily pick up their signal with an antenna, so Comcast it is.

I see digital television as a possible alternative in the future. Hoopefully I will be able to get a better signal for NBC 40 when I splurge for a digital converter. Channel 17 has a subchannel, the Tube which I am starting to like better than VH1 Classic because they show new stuff that I like. WCAU Channel 10 has NBC Weather Plus. Possibly NBC 40 may carry this as well. I'm starting to like NBC Weather Plus better than the Weather Channel. Maybe other channels in the area will start putting good programming on their digital subchannels. I would love to put up an antenna and ditch cable.

I have DSL for internet.

Oh, what A**holes, they have a monopoly over cable tv. Thats not fair at all. I guess I'll just cancel my cable tv and tell them to go whatever themselves. That and the "shared" internet connections for cable internet? Total Bull. Get DSL, its faster because its not a "shared connection". Plus comcast limits how fast your cable modem can go too, thats why its not a gauranteed connection. If Im paying however much a month for a service, it better work!

I totally agree. Ever since I got service with Suscom I have hated them. Then they went to Comcast, and they are even worse. I don't think there is one american speaking person working there. Unfortunately Iive in the freakin BOONIES so I have no one else to service my cable out here. I hope they straighten up or they are gonna los a lot of customers.

Comcast is s h i t. My parents, when they lived in Oregon, they purposely rose the prices on their cable and internet. My parents flat out discontinued their service. Avoid Comcast at all costs.

I have Time Warner and they are basicallt the same company as of January. I don't even think we get the TV Guide. What we get is their own guide.

And oh yea, these guys live at my house the service is so bad.

No. I kicked 'em to the curb a year ago and good riddance. We don't need no stinkin' cable!
