Often times when I am on the computer, the mouse will freeze for a sec, it is usually worse and instead of freezing, it will click, move somewhere and scroll, and maybe click again all in half a second.
Sometimes it get's REALLY BAD and will continue clicking and flying at light speed all over the screen opening up stuff and x-ing out what I am doing. And twice tonight (a new record) I have had to restart the computer because it permanently froze into postition and wouldn't move.
My mouse is fully plugged in, the dust has been cleaned out many times, and this is really annoying when I am playing a video game and making me shoot teammates and getting shot.
Can anyone help?

Just as I removed the mousepad as bubbie said, it froze for 2 seconds after moving it a bit.

Get a new mouse. Has a short in it that is making it either not work or go crazy.

Many mouses don't require the use of a mousepad, in fact, using a mousepad can produce the symptons you describe. Just use a hard surface like a desktop.

It may be time to get a new mouse. They do die, after all.

Are you using a KVM switch? If so, this is common.
