Most schools have writing centers that are set up to help students refine their prose prior to paper submission. See if your school has one of these centers (perhaps by enquiring in your international office). If the people at the center can't provide you with enough support, they should be able to provide you references to good tutors (and proofreaders). Also, consider asking a friend (who speaks English as a first language) to read your drafts for language and grammar. Don't feel embarrassed. Friends will be happy to spend a little time helping a person better his or her final product. Ultimately, so long as the thoughts and the initial language are your own, no one should complain if someone out there is telling you that a verb is conjugated wrong!

Also ... Most professors recognize that the English of an international student might not be as good as that of a native English speaker. So ... Don't worry if it's not absolutely perfect.

I would start with a Computer and Microsoft Word.
