Every battery (rechargeable) has a certain number of "charges" in them.

Say we are talking about a cell phone. Every time you plug your cellphone in to charge, you are losing one charge time. Even if you just plugged it in for a second. This is why it is always recommended to wait until the battery is completely drained until charging it.
