You can't lose your license for going into treatment, as long as you didn't do anything negligent while working as a RN.

Not in Texas. If an RN is caught using illegal drugs and the state is notified the will require rehab and Narcotics Anonymous. Then she will be allowed to work but not give medications for a period of time with regular urine test. She will have the title of impaired nurse. After she/he has tested clean the specified time he/she will get full nursing privileges back.

According to the Drug free workplace policy in Florida,if your hospital is a participant,you cannot lose your license,only be temporarily put on leave while you complete the program.You can pick the time and receive vacation pay.It is against the law to bother you at all about it.This is because so many nurses have been lost to former" fire your butt on the spot" rules.It is against law to even mention you are in the drug program by bosses & fellow employees.This is all spelled out in your states statutes on DFWP policies.[Library]hpital is not DFWP,you are GONE.I am not a medical worker,but rather a victim of a junkie nurse(home health} who ate the patients medications,prescibed inferior meds for the patient,had a intolerable personality nearly killed the patient{I am the caregiver}I turned her in to her office,who in turn reported me for abusing the patient{revenge} it took me 4 years to figure out what was wrong.Finally one day I saw her driving down the road smoking a joint.Then all became clear.Finally called the national HQ"s she flunked the bloodtest sent home for appr 1 month 2 yrs random drug test,then moved out of statesame w/social worker[demoted}

I know this is serious. I think you should check with rules with your state, and get cured . I dated a RN that was an Amphedamine addict ,it was sad that I had to leave her. She wasn't in her right frame of mind allways. I hope that
whoever can get free of this and see the better picture.

I don't think so, but check with your state's nursing board. Each state is different. If you get arrested for drugs you can lose your license. But again it depends on the state and the states nursing laws.
