Surface area formula: 2 * (pi * radius^2) + 2 * (pi * radius) * height
Volume formula: pi * radius^2 * height

so ...
Surface area: 2 * (pi * 3.5^2) + 2 * (pi * 3.5) * 14 = 384 ft^2
Volume: 538 ft^3

radius = 3.5
diameter = 2radius = 7
height = 14

surface area = circumference * height
Think of the label on a soda-bottle. You're going to slice down the height of the label and open it up flat, so it's now a rectangle. What was the height of the cylinder is now the vertical dimension of the rectangle and the former circumference of the cylinder is now the horizontal dimension of the rectangle.
circumference = pi diameter
surface area = pi diameter height
pi7*14 = 98pi sqft

volume = pi radius^2 * height
Think of a cylinder as a stack of poker chips. The volume is the surface area of one chip times the height of the stack.
pi 3.5^2 * 14 = 171.5pi cuft

The formula for the surface area of a cylinder is 2X 22/7 (pai) X radius( height + radius)
Volume= 22/7 or 3.14(pai)X square of radiusX height

Therefore, Surface area= 2X22/7X 3.5X 17.5=385 sq.ft
Volume= 22/7 X 3.5 X 3.5 X 14= 539 cubic feet

Volume is pi(r^2) times height.

3.14(3.5^2)(14)
3.14(12.25)(14)
538.8 cu ft

I'm reaching back 30 years, so i don't know how to do the surface area.

Look in the book for the formula.There should one for volume of a cylinder and another for area of a cylinder. I can't help anymore than that.Sorry.
