No one has a right to invade your privacy. You need to stand up for yourself. You really do. Seriously. Even Landlords (of apartments, where you pay rent for the whole place) don't have a right to come in without your permission. It is a violation of the lease (which is a legally binding contract). I'm guessing if you are sharing a place with someone, you yourself are not on a lease. And I think that "mistress" you are refering to is just plain Taking Advantage of you. The fact that you are rolling over and taking it is just making her do it even more. It wont make her stop, trust me. Some people walk all over others, simply because they want to, and because the other person lets them. My advice to you is to explain to her that you have a right to your privacy, and tell her that if your privacy can't be respected there, at that house, then you will find another house where it can. In other words say "If you don't give me my privacy and respect, I'm leaving". And then, if she does not change her behavior, LEAVE! Look in the paper, there are other people looking for "housemates" that actually treat the people who pay them rent, with respect. If any of this is too intimidating for you, there are always locks.

will the person who owns the flat allow you to add a lock to your room. and basically are you on a lease or what sounds like your just a roommate paying rent to a girl to stay at the place and you have no legal right to anything in the property. if you are not on any legal lease get a new place and take off you have no reason or obligation to stay there. but if you really like the place and just dont like your roommate then you need to set boundaries like a lock on the room or you tell the mistresses mans wife and that might just solve everything

This can be a serious problem to yet a very sensitive one i had the exact problem few weeks ago however my room mate moved out so it worked out but another thing you can do is install a lock and hopefully she would understand why you did this and stop going in your room and touching your stuff. But if you still feel uncomfortable moving out would be something you would wanna look into and try to find a differnt place.

Locking your door is a good start, though they can just pick it. If it was me I give her a fat lip and bust her fingers, but since your not a toughie I'd just find a new place to live in the mean time you'll have to lock the door and deal with it.

Well, you can either put a lock on your door and when she questions you about it, tell her to shove it. Or you can find a new place to live. You shouldn't have to put up with her crap just because she's sleeping with the guy that owns the apartment. Have you tried talking to him about it?

First, regardless of who she is she needs to respect you! This is not happening. She really has no respect for herself if she is going through your personal stuff. 2nd-It is time to ask her to sit down with you and talk to her. Have a list ready so you can discuss all the issues you have with her and be prepared to have her give you reasons she is not happy with you. 3rd-If she won't sit down and try to work through this it is to your advantage to look for another place to live. I know this is a hard option to look at - but a necessary one for your happiness and well being. Good Luck!

Have a talk with her. Tell her to keep her hands off your things.
Look for a new housemate.
Set mousetraps in all your drawers when you're gone.
Find another place to live.
