you can use the motor mounts from the car the engine came from you dont need to buy any if it had a v6 you can use the same tranny this will save you from recutting the drive shaft and some people will tell you the front end will not be strong enough well it is dont need to change anything depends on how strong you want to build it for power is how the price will range on that you can put a mild cam in it and 4 barrel carb and intake and set of headers and if you do the work yourself it will cost you around $400 to $600 less if you can find used parts
and you dont need to buy a 350 that 305 will perform just as well as the 350 same block

As far as motor mounts if the truck had a 4.3 litre V6 you can use the original motor mounts for that truck if it had the 2.8 or the 2.4 you need to buy the conversion kit.The 305 is ok just less cubic inches I could give you a lot more advice on parts, places to get them and easy (tricks) to do to that truck if i knew more about it like how high performance you want to go with it like MILD,WILD, OR JUST PLAIN INSANE....I have 3 V8 S-10's an 1988 with a very mild 350(its for my girlfriend) I have a 1991 with a 350 block that was bored and stroked to 427 cubic inches 600+ HP and 600+ ftlbs of torque it runs 9.73 seconds in the quater at over 176 MPH and I have a 1998 with MPI 350 in it...

Wow, real experience talking on your answers there. I cannot believe that these folks say they have 25 yrs plus and don't know squat about engines. For a 305, take it to the machine shop and have the deck dropped, short stroke it (destroke kit), put on some 350 4bbl milled heads, put in a 3/4 comp race came and you're set. The 305 block with the short stroke (I think it's a 285 kit) will turn 15K rpms and won't fly apart. Good luck.

I know of some 305's that can kick a 350 a$$ anyday. Just go find some 305 Interceptor (police car) heads, a cam, and some headers to get the motor to breathe right.

They make a kit, with all the brackets and mounts you need
for this conversation. Check out Jegs, com but dont bother
with the 305 engine, its a boat anchor, go for a 350 if you going to
do the work.

I must agree with "cyclops" Jegs will give you what you want.
And Don't waste your Time with the 305. Go with the 350.
Although If you really want to "Soup-Up" that 305; Your best bet would be to dump a can of cambell's Chicken noodle into the carburetor

I don't need your points.
However, You could drop $thousands into the engine and not be happy.

I'd go with headers, flowmasters, and GOOD intake system.
Doing internal engine stuff on todays gas for daily driver cars is a waste of money.

Davecat350,
you are on CRACK if you think you are doing a quarter mile in 9.8 whatever at 176 mph. You would have to run 7.5 to be at 179 mph.
Hell of a try though.
