Heck yeah!!!

I USED to be a beach bum wanabe, (cause i still lived with my dad at the time), but me and my bf would hand out in OB he would surf and I would lay in the sand and get stoned and meet the most amazing people! Locals, vagrants, runaways with every story imaginable, we would eat cheap tacos, play with every dog in site, have bonfires, sing, listen to up-and-coming artists (can you say Jewel?) Lotsa fun. If wasn't so responsible now I'd do it in a heart beat!

Now that our kids are grown and leaving home, that kind of life sounds very appealing again.

The only problem with that is that the world is no longer safe enough to do that. Too many sickos out there, to want to live out in the open and be vulnerable to them.

But we can do some of that when we retire, just in a more safe environment.

To each his Dulcinea ...

That he alone can name,
To each a secret hiding place:
Where he can find the haunting face --
To light his secret flame ...

For with his Dulcinea
Beside him so to stand,
A man can do quite anything:
Outfly the bird upon the wing --
Hold moonlight in his hand ...

Yet if you build your life on dreams,
It's prudent to recall:
A man with moonlight in his hands --
Has nothing there at all ...

There is no Dulcinea ...

She's made of flame and air,
And yet how lovely life would seem:
If every man could weave a dream --
To keep him from despair.

To each his Dulcinea ...
Though she's only flame and air ...

I've been thinking about that more and more lately. Though the actual plan is to go to tahiti and sell seashells I collect on the beach...
And I think I would only need the bikini bottom...no jeans!;)

I've done something similar. 5 months in A Ford van, but I stuck to the mountains and lakes. You can eat better and have fresh water.

hell yes i would. thats kinda how i grew up only on a river, with air boats and a bow. id do the surfing. then i would go shoot a shark. me and my "homies" would build a fire on the beach, in our swim trunks, 100 cases of beer, a few extra bottles, and we would try to cook that f u c k e r.

Nope, I'm happy the way things our now. Wouldn't mind going to the beach now and then when things get too much.

I was that, except that instead of a VW I rode a Harley for about 5 years back in the late sixties.

if i could, i wouldn't coz after a while you'll be board of being a beach bum, then you will try to be someone else. My advice: Be yourself and make your life style interesting and busy.
