at the moment he's not a chuunin, but then his skills after the time skip are comparable to jounin even though he didn't become a chuunin. in the latest chapter of the manga, kakashi says to naruto that he (kakshi) believes that he (naruto) can surpass the fourth hokage.

One way of looking at it is that he skipped chunnin and went straight to jonin. Aty the beginning of Shippuden, when Kakashi tested Naruto and Sakura, after they defeated him, Kakashi said that Narutoi and Sakura where on an even level with him

Probably he's at the skill past a Chunin but still the status of a genin ! C'mon he's gonna be Hokage so no doubt ^_^

After the time skip, He is pass jounin skilled.

But, to bad he does'nt take the exams, Im sure he will someday
