I'm planning a little vacation and would love to see all things NASCAR.

If you head down to Concord there are a few things to do. You can go to Lowe's Motor Speedway and check out the track, maybe go to a race (even if it's not a NASCAR event, it's still oval track racing). If you feel like spending the money, there's a few "racing experiences" or "driving schools" inside the speedway that you could check out.

Then right down the road from Lowe's is a shopping center with a few NASCAR specific stores, there's also the NASCAR Speedpark (go-karts) behind Concord Mills.

If you want to go to look at more than just oval track races, you could check out the Mooresville Dragway and see if they have any races going on.

There's also the "NC Auto Racing Hall of Fame" in Mooresville, which isn't too big or all that exciting, but it does offer some look at the history of NASCAR and other racing if you're interested.

It also shouldn't be too hard to find race shops in or around Mooresville (although you may want to find addresses and directions beforehand if you want to see certain shops), and although I've never gone to one, I'm sure the majority of them offer tours.

If you want some time off from racing during your trip, you could head over to Lake Norman which is right next to Mooresville, and I'm sure you'd be able to find something to do there, there are boat launch sites, boat rentals, etc.

Hope some of this helped.

I recommend a visit over to Penske Racing off of Mooresville Blvd. Place is unbelievable. Bunch of shops over around Knob Hill Rd. Best thing to do is probably check out the town of Mooresville's web site and get a local map of the area. There's also quite a few teams in Concord over near the airport, close to Concord Mills, a sizable mall, about a mile or two from the speedway. Also look into the North Carolina Auto Racing Hall of Fame and Memory Lane automobile museum.

We were there back in July. The first thing you need to do is go to the Visitors Center located in downtown. They'll give you a really nice map that shows where all the race shops are located. Very easy to get around. DEI, Penski, Robert Yates Racing and MB2 Motorsports are the biggest. Right beside Penski is the Carolina Brewery which makes Carolina Blonde Beer. They have tours on Saturdays.

Hope this helps, have a blast !

Remember to check out DEI or Dale Earnhardt Incorporated!! A lot of the racing teams in Nascar have their headquarters in Morresville so check out the racing team headquarters!
