I think its just to show off how much money they have.Just like women with big fancy jewelry.In a way a grill is a hip hoppers jewelry just like the big diamond chains and pendents

It actually comes from African Tribal customs. Typically, African tribes have poor dental health. Only the rich can afford dentures. Very wealthy families have precious stones and metals in those dentures. This came over as a sign of affluence.
People now wear them to brag about their income and affluence. It isn't to "look good", it is to show off.

style. some of those grills are diamonds and gold and cost more than engagement rings. its prestige in the rap community. sort of like spinner rims on your car.
grills are no worse than the piercings that primarily the white punk kids get. to each his own.

Some people think they look cool and plus they think "hey my mouth is worth a lot of money now" lol. But seriously I dont know why. They are soooo ugly. But w/e...I guess it's their choice.

I think there the most idiotic thing you can do to yourself. Might as well pull out all your teeth and replace them with metal. It looks ridiculous, I kinda want someone to swallow one of those things so they can a lesson in fashion!!

I don't know but I think they look nasty. Their teeth look like they don't take care of them at all. It's not something that would attract me.
