I've never read a good biography or auto-biography that was that long. That just means someone is very long-winded. I have, however, read some very good autobiographies that have each touched me. Those include
Rena's Promise-- Rena Konreich Gleisson
The Pianist-- Wladyslaw Szpilman
The Night-- Elie Wiesel

I read a really interesting biography of Bob Fosse, the late dancer/choreographer.
Also, an autbiography by Alicia Appleman-Jurman about her experiences before, during and after WWII (most of her family died during the war).
Also, two autbiographies by Gelsey Kirkland (the former ballerina): Dancing On My Grave and The Shape Of Love.

the unauthorized autobiography of Lemeny Snicket ( but you have to have read all of the series of unfortunate events to get it ) and she said yes but neither of them are 400-500 pages long
