You first ask them if it ok to add them. If they say yes... just add them.

Go to contacts and click "add a contact" fill in the details and yahoo will send an email asking them to accept your invitation

If you are asking how to add them to your yahoo messenger this is how: click on contacts on the top of your messenger, click on add a contact, follow the directions that pop up
