About 100 000 people like me are on the waiting lists, and in Australia, only 132 children a year are available for adoption from children surrendered. It can be shortcut though if I know someone who agrees to surrender their child for adoption.
,Are you uncertain about your pregnancy? Have you a child you can't cope with? I'll let you keep your baby bonus if you just got pregnant to get that.(heard this often happens).
I just have had no luck with finding a husband, let alone one who wants children. I feel so empty and no amount of charity work, continuing education etc fills the gap. I need to be a mum.
Any ideas?
I am educated, mature aged, nearly out of time but I am time rich and can dedicate effort into the child's well being.

okay if you seriously want a child to love and can dedicate time to them then please do consider adopting a special needs child...
many children with mild to moderate disabilities remain unadopted for their whole life.....
severe to profoundly disabled children are nearly ever adopted...
if you have no experience in disabled children then I suggest you spend some time helping out at a school for children with special needs and get some idea of the needs of these children.
not all children with disabilities are problematic... some are simply not quite as quick off the mark as others... but because many couples and singles wishing to adopt are after the perfect child.... and because they are afraid to have a child with special needs these kids remain unadopted...
try talking to
Barnardos
Anglicare
and Centrecare
and Department of Community Services (Welfare)
about special needs adoptions...

It is not clear if you are in Australia and want to adopt in your home country, or in the U.S. as I am and want to adopt baby from there. If you are U.S. you have to look in phone book/internet for licensed adoption agency that deals with foreign adoptions. Must be a licensed agency unless you are willing to risk losing all your moneoy and starting over! That is super important. You also need to look up attorneys because you will need an attorney to make sure all the papers are legal. It is very expensive. There are also adoption support groups you can find in the phone book under organizations and those people would very willingly help you and share their info. I adopted three children, all as infants. I am from the U.S. and they were private non-agency adoptions from mothers in this country, meaning that my identity and that of the mothers was not secret, but we did not have to meet or anything. Anytime I heard someone say their friend, cousin, sister, etc. was young, single and pregnant my ears perked up and I asked would she be keeping the baby. It is amazing the reactions you get--some people think you are like crazy and other people treat you like you are their absolute lifesaver that you would actually consider "rescuing" their relative and taking the baby off their hands. I was able to find two of my babies that way, the other one I just put an ad in the local paper under personals "couple wants to adopt baby, will pay all expenses, etc." Everything was legal and did not fall through, moms did not change their minds or anything. You just have to be persistent and remind yourself that it only takes one "yes" so keep on trying and I wish you the best of luck! If you really want it to happen it will. I briefly considered foreign adoption but I changed my mind after reading about it and talking to some people. You can only do so much work yourself and once the papers get sent over to the other country you have to wait and wait and wait and often papers get lost and you have to do it all again, and once things are in the mail it is totally out of your control to even check on the status of your adoption. Even political events can often interrupt the cycle, laws change, etc. and you have to be reapproved, etc. I thought that would drive me insane.

Adoption is not a fast-fix program. It takes months after months to even get the nessasary pappers ready. Then, there is more waiting, and waiting. You go through a long investagation to check your backgrown, Your life style ect, ect, ect. And then,Sometimes there is a lot of money involved. A friend of mine took (3) three years befor him and his wife were even concidered of getting a child. They finily adopted a beautiful baby girl from Japan.

Have you considered adopting older children? Lots of children in foster care could really use someone with as much love to share as you clearly have. Hope all works out for you!
