For my daughter they did it while she was sleeping. They said they get the best results that way. They just brought us into a room with a machine that has little covers for the ears and pushed a button. It was only done with my 3rd child, but was done in 5 minutes and was harmless.

they have little ear muff looking things and leads that measure the sound waves or brain waves. i am not sure which. It is not invasive. They usually sleep through it. My daughter has had three. Her last one was little ear plugs that worked the same way.

i worked in an infant developement center for 3 years and i helped with hearing screenings and i was surprised to see how they did it. they had the mothers hold the baby in a quiet room, and then with a variety of different small bells and rubber chew toy horns they would honk them, one by one of course, on each side of the baby. its that simple..watch for the babys reaction...did he have one?
